Scramble 2 man scoring format
18 holes
2-man-scramble alternating tee shot format.
Teammates will alternate who tees off first every hole.
Both players will tee off and the best ball will be chosen for the next shot where both players will then hit from again. And so on until the hole is complete and the score tallied.
Preferred Lies
You can play the ball up, and can move the ball one club length distance, no closer to the hole.
You may not improve your lie (i.e. moving the ball from rough to fairway, fairway to fringe, or fringe to green).
Provisional Tee – 1 stroke and distance.
Out of bounds – 1 stroke + either: placement the ball no closer to the hole where the ball entered out of bounds or as near as possible to where the last stroke was played.
Your highest score will be dropped for handicap calculation purposes after three rounds. For example on a par 72 course, if you post scores of 75, 77, and 85 your handicap, with our old rules, would have been a 7. Under our new rules the handicap would be a 4. This will hopefully help the handicap reflect your capabilities more consistently and remove an aberrant score. The 6 most recent scores (if applicable) will be looked at to calculate a team’s handicap.
Handicaps are calculated on a team basis only (same two partners). Before a team has 4 games played, a handicap is not assigned to them. Once a team has played 4 games, a handicap will be calculated using the 3 lowest score of the 4 games, and progressing as a moving average of their 6 most recent games, with the highest score of the most recent 6 games dropped. E.g. @4 games played, lowest 3 are used, dropping 1, @5, lowest 4 are used, dropping 1, @6, lowest 5 are used, dropping 1, @7 most recent 5 drop 1, @8 games played and above, most recent 5 are used, drop 1. See figure below.
Gimme's are allowed! Any putt within 3 feet of the hole may be conceded. This is not mandatory; a gimme putt is at the DISCRETION of your opponent.
Four strokes over-par is the maximum score allowed on a given hole. (Ex: on a par 3, a score of 7 is the max). For the love of God, please pick your ball up and move on to the next hole after the four over-par stroke maximum is reached.
You must participate in 4 league events throughout the 2020 season with the same partner in order to qualify for the year end league championship (dates TBD). Exceptions will be granted by the rules committee and commissioner as needed.
A league outing requires a minimum of 3 teams participating in order to qualify as an event (exceptions can be made by the rules committee).
Events will take place on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Any golf league participant may schedule/set-up an event preferably including one member from the 6 listed below (not required).

Golf Betting Rules (Separate from the NEOGL Official Rules)
Money Ball (MB) – Must be alternated between partners each hole and must always be hit first during the round. No laying up off the tee with the MB. The club selected must make sense for the hole being played (ex. using a 9-iron on a par-5 off the tee). Same MB must be used during the entire round (no switching money balls mid-round or between holes).
Ex. Player 1 tees off with MB on Hole #1. Player 2 then hits his ball. Player 1 must then go first again with the MB until the hole is finished. Player 2 will then tee off first with the MB (same money ball as Player 1 on Hole #1) and continue to hit first until the hole is finished.
The team(s) with MB at end of round will be distributed the money pool evenly.
Par Three – Closest to the pin. Tee shot must come to rest on green. If none of the teams land on the green, no winner will be awarded for that hole, and the money pool will still be split amongst those that won a par three hole.
Money pool will be distributed proportionally amongst teams that won one or more par three holes. Teams will decide whether the prize money is awarded to the individual or split amongst their team.
Overall score – Handicaps must be decided before first team tees off. Majority vote until enough rounds are played to determine a team’s handicap. Lowest score(s) will be distributed the prize money.
Skins – A team will be awarded a skin for the lowest score on a hole (must be a score of par or better). No skins will be awarded for ties, and no skins roll over. Prize money will be distributed evenly amongst the number of skins won by team.
